Ada banyak sekali orang yang bertanya dan mengeluhkan mengapa tulisan saya banyak mengetengahkan keahlian manipulasi. Mungkin hari ini Anda akan mendapat jawabannya. Mungkin juga tidak. Ah, segala sesuatu indah pada waktunya. 

Mari kita mulai dari mendulang arti kata ‘manipulasi’ itu sebenarnya. MenurutWikipedia: “1. To move, arrange or operate something using the hands; 2. To influence, manage, direct, control or tamper with something to one’s own advantage; 3. In medicine, to handle and move a body part, either as an examination or for a therapeutic purpose.“

Sementara Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia menjelaskannya sebagai “1. Tindakan untuk mengerjakan sesuatu dengan tangan atau alat-alat mekanis secara terampil; 2. Upaya kelompok atau perseorangan untuk memengaruhi perilaku, sikap, dan pendapat orang lain tanpa orang itu menyadarinya; 3. Penggelapan atau penyelewengan.“

Berdasarkan definisi di atas, manipulasi memiliki nilai yang baik dan buruk. Masing-masing memberikan dua penjelasan yang cenderung positif, dan satu penjelasan yang cenderung negatif. Menarik sekali mengintip penjelasan dalam Wikipedia Indonesia berikut ini yang jauh lebih berwarna dan keras jika dibandingkan dengan Wikipedia Internasional dan KBBI di atas:

“Manipulasi adalah sebuah proses rekayasa dengan melakukan penambahan, pensembunyian, penghilangan atau pengkaburan terhadap bagian atau keseluruhan sebuah realitas, kenyataan, fakta-fakta ataupun sejarah yang dilakukan berdasarkan sistim perancangan sebuah tata sistem nilai, manipulasi adalah bagian penting dari tindakan penanamkan gagasan, sikap, sistem berpikir, perilaku dan kepercayaan tertentu.“

Ini dia dua belas buah tips dan obat kuat untuk penghilang dan pembasmi ilusi. Istilah ‘ilusi’ yang saya maksud di sini tidak sekedar tentang ‘rasa takut untuk melakukan aksi flirting, tapi juga berbagai rasa takut, cemas, tegang dan ekspresi parno lainnya yang sering kita hadapi dalam hidup sehari-hari. Hari ini saya bersalah untuk kedua kalinya menulis entri yang tidak mungkin terbaca selama 90 detik.

Ketika berada di situasi yang asing atau aneh, salah satu bagian di otak kita, dikenal dengan nama amygdala, mengirimkan pesan “Hei, kode merah! Boss melihat sesuatu di depan, ada kemungkinan bahaya..” ke kelenjar adrenal. Detik itu juga, dosis adrenalin segera meluncur di dalam darah yang membuat tubuh kita meregang siaga untuk respon Fight or Flight: kurang lebih Fight berarti bertarung melawan jika sang ancaman rasanya bisa dilawan, sementara Flight berarti berlari menghindar jika merasa terpojok.

Parno dan ilusi kecemasan sebenarnya muncul karena sistem tubuh dan pikiran kita sedang mengalami konflik: tubuh sudah siap beraksi tapi anehnya tidak menemukan siapa yang harus dilawan ataupun untuk apa harus berlari. Sinyal ancaman bahaya yang dikirim oleh amygdala ternyata bersifat abstrak alias tidak benar-benar nyata alias alarm palsu. Karena sudah banyak dosis adrenalin yang sudah terlanjur dipompa ke dalam darah, otak pun terpengaruh untuk mulai menciptakan berbagai pikiran-pikiran menakutkan. Demikian lahirlah ilusi dan anxiety, seperti yang dijelaskan oleh Psyche Education berikut ini:

“One of these physical events associated with fear is often called the ‘fight or flight’ reaction: increased heart rate and force of each beat (pounding heart); increased muscle tension that can even cause tremors; sweaty but cold palms; and even nausea. The brain structure which appears to be at the very center of most of the brain events associated with fear is the amygdala.“

Jadi secara teori, cara untuk mengatasi ilusi adalah dengan menjaga amygdala agar berhenti mengirimkan sinyal bahaya dan mengalihkan perhatian otak bagian depan (frontal lobes). Lalu bagaimana prakteknya?

Tutorial: How to Improve ATLAS Translation Perfornance

Well, eroge or galge fan that not Japanese native speaker sure has a same big dilema. They want to play their favorite game and vn but most of their fav title didn’t get translated into English, although recently group of people would kindly invented useful tools such as Translator Aggregator (TA) and Interactive Text Hooker (ITH) that would crop vn text to clipboard and translate it via ATLAS. Translation engine such ATLAS might cappable to translate such hirgana and katakana but sometimes ~ nope, I mean their translated often fragmented and difficult to understand that for sure would drop satisfaction level of playing experince.

Okay, this time I would give a tutorial to improve ATLAS translation by doing few config and provide dictionary update. I can’t promise your translation would be good as much as released english patch that being provided by yandere and tlwiki; however, it could make your ATLAS performance slightly better (better than nothing…)

General Starting Point – Setting The Regional

It's might lil'bit late to discuss how to setting pc regional to Japanese since I've discuss a lot more stuff before this one. But it's still not too late to write it up so reader could get basic knowledge about it. Okay, folks hear word from enigmatic dwi_edge. Before you’re trying to install an eroge; there is one important thing that you should do. What is that?

Change your regional setting to Japanese…
as for us (dwi_edge & actually me too), we change all of them into japanese, coz there’s some game which even check the time zone, formats, and the Location

Windows 7
go to Control Panel, Clock Language and Region, Region and Language..
pick the Administrative tab and click CHANGE SYSTEM LOCALE…

pick japanese, and then you’ll be asked for restart, restart your PC

Windows XP
you need some kind of files…
google it… (or try this one: Japanese XP pack) or just install jap-language from your WINDOWS XP CD… (use your original one please ^^)

How?
1. Download the “Japanese-Pack-XP.rar” above
2. Extract “Japanese-Pack-XP.rar” to a folder of your choosing (preferably desktop)
3. Go to Control Panel–>Regional and Language Options
4. Under the “Languages” tab tic the “Install files for East Asian Languages”
5. Click Apply, on the insert cd message click ok and the it’ll give you the same error BUT with the option to choose where to load the files from
6. go to …/Japanese-Pack-XP/i386/Lang and load the only file that appears (only one appears because it asks for a specific file)
7. sit back and watch it install
8. it doesn’t matter as long as you eventually restart, not log off/standby/hibernate.
